Open Up Buttercup
The ask
This small and nonfunctional space was teeming with issues. Whenever you have a space with multiple doorways and corners you know there’s going to be a major shortage of functional cabinetry and this space was definitely no exception.
The Solution
The clients reached out to me when they first purchased the home with the hopes of having all of the work completed before officially moving in. It’s a great plan...to have the renos completed in the window of time before your current property closes giving you time to stay put while all the mess happens at your new home. Unfortunately there was just too much to be done with the time we had and in the end the clients came to realize that the best outcome would come from taking our time and exploring all of the possibilities. With the time crunch behind us we were able to come up with a feasible plan to open the space up to the living room and create one large cooking, lounging and entertaining space. One that works so well for this growing family!
By moving the doorway to the dining room we were able to eliminate awkward corner cabinets allowing all of the other cabinets to be highly functional.
